Ca's Xorc - chic boutique, Majorca wedding venue

Before I began photographing weddings in Majorca I was shown some of the best hotels on the island by my good friend and wedding planner Frank. Each one was stunning in it’s own right and far superior to anything I had worked at in the UK and I couldn't believe how lucky I was. It is not just the climate and eating al fresco that makes Majorca hotels wonderful wedding venues, it is also the charm, attention to detail and the informal luxury that many offer.

Like many hotels on the island, Ca’s Xorc is a converted finca and is hidden from view on the mountain road between Soller and Deia. Unless you are looking for it you will probably drive past blissfully unaware to the delight you have just missed.  The access lane itself is a challenge and if you can navigate your way around the hairpin bends without stopping you've done well.

The wedding ceremonies are held in the marquee or outside on the terrace. If you prefer a church ceremony I recommend two nearby churches in beautiful Deia and Soller. Deia Church is located on top of a hill in the middle of the town. It is customary for the couple and their guests to walk down the hill which is  is a wonderful photo opportunity only possible because coaches cant get up the narrow road! Soller has a magnificent church in the towns’ main square surrounded by restaurants and bars where you can get a quick drink before the ceremony. The square is a beautiful location for photographs where the locals and tourists will stop and watch which adds to the occasion.

Some of the formal shots can be taken alongside the infinity pool overlooking Soller and the Tramuntana Mountains.  Much of the gardens are in shade which is great for guests and ideal for photographers.

The wedding breakfast is on the terrace in the shade of mature olive trees though there is an option to have it in the fabulous press room. The food at Ca’s Xorc is of the highest quality and the dining experience is extra special sat on the panoramic terrace over looking the Soller valley.

At another wedding the bride and groom and their guests were walking down the hill from Deia Church accompanied by an amazing Spanish guitarist. It was a beautiful sight though I had to be careful walking backwards while taking photographs. As we neared the bottom the guitarist seamlessly went from flamenco into ‘Every Breath You Take’ by The Police and I burst into song as I worked - not a bad way to earn a living.

If you are looking for a traditional, intimate, chic wedding venue that oozes charm and style with the highest standards of food that Majorca has to offer then Ca’s Xorc has to be on your short list.
