Pencoed House is a photographer's dream because of its 36 acres of variety. The long, tree-lined driveway is iconic for romantic "just married" shots. I also love the Gothic stone arches and the rustic textures of the 15th-century Old Hall. For something more natural, the woodland paths and the manicured lawns offer a beautiful, soft backdrop that works perfectly with my documentary style.
The Old Hall is incredibly atmospheric with its vaulted ceilings and original stonework, but it can be quite dark, especially during winter weddings with the log fire roaring. I am highly experienced in low-light photography; I use professional-grade equipment to capture the warmth and "mood" of the room without using harsh flashes that ruin the ambiance.
The beauty of Pencoed House is its versatility. If we can't head out into the gardens, the interiors—like the Woodland Bar or the Cwrt Clive—have plenty of character for portraits. The arched doorways also provide "covered outdoor" spots where we can get the greenery in the background while keeping you perfectly dry.
Yes - I capture a mix of relaxed, natural moments along with a small number of organised group photos if you’d like them.
Yes! Pencoed House has a fantastic patio and lawn area right outside the Old Hall which is perfect for gathering everyone. I often use the slight elevation of the stone steps or even my drone to ensure I can see every face in the crowd for that "big group" shot before you head in for your wedding breakfast.
My approach is all about the "natural flow" of the day. I recommend spending about 15-20 minutes on a few key family portraits and another 15 minutes for some relaxed couple portraits around the estate. This ensures you spend the maximum amount of time enjoying the Pencoed hospitality and the company of your guests.
