There is a timeless grandeur to The Mansion House in Newport that makes it one of South Wales' most sophisticated settings for a wedding. As a historic venue steeped in character, it offers a blend of Victorian elegance and manicured gardens that serve as a stunning backdrop for your celebrations.
My approach to photographing weddings at The Mansion House is built on capturing the genuine, unscripted moments that define your day. From the natural light pouring through the ornate windows of the ceremony room to the intimate portraits shared on the sweeping staircase, I focus on telling your story with authenticity and style.
Whether you are planning a grand celebration or a more intimate gathering, I work to ensure your photographs reflect the unique atmosphere of the venue and, most importantly, the connection between the two of you.

The Mansion House (Newport Register Office) is located on Stow Hill, near the center of Newport. It is a Grade II listed Victorian building that serves as the primary location for civil ceremonies in the city.
The main ceremony space, the Liscombe Room, can accommodate up to 50 guests. For smaller, more intimate ceremonies, the Garden Room is ideal for approximately 6 guests.
There is limited parking available at the front of the house for the wedding cars, and some space for guests, though given its central location, guests often use nearby public parking if the guest list is large.
The Newport registrars are generally very photographer-friendly and relaxed. Unlike some venues, they typically allow your photographer to move discreetly to capture the ring exchange and the "I do's." Note: Photography is usually not permitted during the private legal interview just before the ceremony.
The grand staircase with its beautiful stained-glass window is a highlight for indoor portraits. Outside, the lawn and balcony offer classic Victorian backdrops. If you're looking for something unique, the balcony provides a great vantage point for a "group shot" of all your guests in the garden below.
Yes! The Mansion House allows biodegradable confetti. A popular spot is on the lawn steps as you exit the building, which provides a natural "aisle" for your guests to line up.
The Mansion House has stunning interior features, such as the wood-paneled hallways and the ornate fireplace in the Garden Room, which provide excellent "Plan B" locations for portraits if we can't get outside.
Yes, I have documented many weddings at The Mansion House. I’m familiar with the lighting in the Liscombe Room and the best angles to capture the grand staircase without blocking the flow of other wedding parties.
